Question:
If the levy fails, why not send the kids to Sandusky High School? There is plenty of room, and fees for sports/clubs/bands would be eliminated. People would save a lot of money by closing PHS for a few years until funds are built back up.
Answer:

The problem with this suggestion is that Perkins students going to Sandusky High School will not be “free” to Perkins. Either Perkins will pay Sandusky City Schools $5,732 each through open enrollment for every student who attends Sandusky, or if the districts merge, the taxpayers of Perkins would immediately pay the tax rate of the Sandusky City School District which is currently 13.6 mils higher than the school tax rate of Perkins. In either case, the cost would be significantly more than the levy being asked for in Perkins.
